Apogee Moves AI Summarization into the Browser and Keeps Sources Local
An open-source browser assistant offers on-device summaries and document questions without accounts, API keys or remote content processing.
Apogee has launched Chrome and Firefox extensions that summarize articles, videos, PDFs and documents and answer questions with locally retrieved passages. It runs through WebGPU, WebAssembly or a user-operated model server, requires no account or cloud upload, and can take readers back to supporting source text. Its local architecture shows how the browser can own the interpretation layer between audiences and publishers without handing reading data or the customer relationship to a cloud AI provider.
