OpenRouter Opens Its Usage Rankings as Reusable AI Market Data
Aggregated routing traffic is becoming a reusable dataset for tracking demand across models and agent applications.
OpenRouter’s live leaderboard ranks models by token volume and publishes provider market share, public app rankings and session-cost data drawn from traffic through its routing API. Its Data API exposes the rankings as JSON under CC BY 4.0, while excluding private models, private endpoints and zero-data-retention traffic. The release turns a model distributor into a source of demand intelligence, giving analysts and developers a direct but platform-bounded view of which AI tools and models attract usage.
