Coding agents are expanding software’s useful long tail, marketplace data suggests
The strongest post-agent growth appears among projects with hundreds or thousands of users, not blockbusters.
An analysis of about twenty software marketplaces compares 2022–24 with 2025–26 and finds roughly twice as many modestly successful projects across several plugin and add-on ecosystems. New games clearing 100 reviews rose 60%, while very large successes did not grow; because developers rarely disclose AI use, the author infers rather than directly measures the coding-agent effect. For game and creator platforms, cheaper production could expand commercially relevant catalogue depth without increasing breakout hits.
