Viewers can now ask the television for recommendations and context before choosing among apps and catalogues.
The new Apple TV 4K uses Siri AI and three built-in microphones as a hands-free interface for finding movies, surfacing trends, answering questions about programmes, and playing music. Siri draws on broad knowledge and, after setup with an eligible iPhone or iPad, personal context, while support is rolling out in English with usage limits. A conversational layer spanning Apple’s service and third-party streaming apps gives Apple greater influence over which catalogue captures a viewer’s next choice.
