Drupal Keeps Publishing Controls While External AI Agents Run the CMS
An MCP tool layer lets assistants act on site content without bypassing permissions, moderation or metering.
Drupal launched a preconfigured AI demo and showed an external assistant unpublishing a page through MCP-exposed tools. The assistant translated the editor’s request into action, while Drupal checked permissions and applied the site’s existing moderation and publishing rules. This positions the CMS rather than the assistant as the control and metering layer for agent-operated publishing, preserving publishers’ governance even as the user interface moves outside Drupal.
