Unofficial Garmin agent interface shows how users can route around proprietary apps
A personal health-data experiment shows both the appeal and fragility of user-controlled agent access.
The developer built a personal web interface that authenticates through an unofficial Garmin API and lets Claude select tools for workout and health-data questions. The source explicitly says it is not an MCP server, but reports that the application reproduces the desired connected-intelligence workflow after official and third-party routes proved limited. Such user-built agent layers could shift control of the customer interface away from data services, although they remain dependent on unofficial access the incumbent can restrict.
