Claude-powered browser ports multiply enforcement pressure on game publishers
Playable recreations can now be generated fast enough to challenge takedown-led protection of older game catalogues.
Kotaku reports that Claude Opus 5.5 is being left to decompile older games overnight, producing browser-playable ports of Halo, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and other titles that previously would have taken coders months to reconstruct. The outlet tested several ports and found some nearly flawless, including a Halo version with working online servers. By making replacement ports quick to recreate after takedowns, the workflow could turn rights enforcement into a continuous cost for game publishers.
